Student Portfolio Playbook for Early Internships

A strong student portfolio is not about length; it is about evidence. Each project should clearly explain context, your role, what you built, and the measurable outcome.

Use a simple structure: short profile summary, 2-3 flagship case studies, and proof links. If you do not have professional projects yet, class projects are acceptable when paired with clear reflection and iteration.

Avoid common mistakes such as vague role descriptions, template-heavy layouts, and too many visuals without outcomes. Most recruiters scan for signal in the first 2-4 minutes.

Before submitting, ask a mentor to review three checkpoints: clarity in the first minute, evidence quality, and fit for the target role. This review step often creates the biggest improvement.
